How Mercari fees work
Mercari charges a 10% selling fee on the item price plus any shipping the buyer pays. Mercari dropped its separate payment processing fee in 2025, so the 10% is the main cost of a sale. Listing is free.
If you pay for shipping yourself, that cost comes out of your earnings, and instant transfers of your balance cost extra.
Worked example: A $35 item with $6 shipping paid by the buyer
- Sale + shipping:
- $41.00
- Selling fee (10%):
- −$4.10
- Mercari pays you:
- $36.90
- Profit after $6 shipping and $9 item cost:
- $21.90
To make $15 profit with the same costs, list it at $27.34.
- The 10% applies to buyer-paid shipping too, so it costs the same whether shipping is in the price or added on.
- If your account still shows a payment processing fee, add it under Fee model.
- Buyers pay their own buyer protection fee, which doesn’t affect your earnings.

- How much does Mercari take from a sale?
- A 10% selling fee on the item price plus buyer-paid shipping. On a $35 item with $6 shipping, Mercari keeps $4.10 and pays you $36.90.
- Does Mercari still charge a payment processing fee?
- Mercari removed its separate processing fee in January 2025, so most US sellers now pay only the 10% selling fee. If your fee breakdown still shows one, add it to the fee model in the calculator.
